We believe in a green Earth, in protecting the environment and the forests and we only offer flooring from brand names who have the same commitment and responsibility towards the future of our planet. Our manufacturers have developed, implemented and maintained environmental practices, managing their plant resources responsibly, particularly by applying rigorous environmental standards in compliance with the Forest Act.
Here's a brief preview on the policies and standard of our manufacturers towards the environment:
Lauzon:
Lauzon is a fully integrated operation from plant to finished products. As part of our commitment in protecting the environment and its forests; we have developed and implemented exemplary environmental practices. Lauzon manages its plant resources responsibly, particularly by applying strict environmental standards in compliance with the Forest Act. Lauzon also developed solvent-free, VOC-free, and Formaldehyde-free finishes and recycles all wood residue and sawdust into energy for home heating.
BR-111:
BR-111 is firmly committed to preserving Brazil's rain forest and renewing its natural resources. Strictly monitored by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Natural Resources (IBAMA), BR-111 promotes sustainable forest practices, securing timber that is selectively harvested and inspected under government guidelines. Coupled with a stringent policy of reforestation, rational harvesting from sustainable forests assures the health and continuity of this most valuable resource.
BR-111 manufactures hardwood flooring only from timber that is harvested under the principles of sustainable forest management. Each tree is assessed for age and condition. Older trees, often susceptible to disease, are removed first, assuring that valuable resources are not left to waste away on the forest floor. After timber is harvested, multiple trees are replanted fostering sustainable forest practices and completing the reforestation process.
In the final analysis, the process of selective timber harvesting produces the highest quality lumber, allowing immature trees in the upper-story to benefit from increased sunlight and water. And because of the tropical climate, reforestation in Brazil's rain forest occurs substantially faster than in temperate climates of North America.
Weyerhaeuser:
Lyptus Eucalyptus hardwood & engineered floors represent a new concept in forest management. Lyptus wood comes from fast-growing Eucalyptus trees that thrive in Brazil's climate. They usually reach harvest size in 14 to 16 years; two to three times faster than comparable hardwood species in colder climates. Lyptus Wood is grown on well-managed plantations, with one third of the plantation reserved as native vegetation to help maintain areas of natural ecosystems. Many of the second generation eucalyptus trees are grown from the stump of the original ones, which helps minimize the disturbance of the land.
Lyptus® wood products offer excellent quality, remarkable beauty and environmental attributes, making them an excellent choice when selecting an eco-sensitive, exotic hardwood species.
Teragren:
Optimum 5.5™ Moso bamboo, specified by Teragren for use in its bamboo building products, is plantation grown in managed agricultural plots by independent farmers in China. Teragren supports these farmers and their families by paying fair market value for raw materials and by encouraging proper stewardship of this valuable resource. The culture of China also supports independent farmers and sustainable harvesting methods. Teragren bamboo is harvested at maturity at 5-1/2 to 6 years, leaving behind a thriving plant and new shoots. Harvesting sooner results in softer fiber and a less stable finished product. Unlike hardwood trees requiring more than 60 years to mature, bamboo is a grass that is renewably harvested over and over from the same plant. In addition, it is not a food source for Panda habitat because Panda do not reside in the province where the bamboo is harvested.

Mannington:
At Mannington, our environmental position is clear and straightforward: actions speak. We have chosen to focus on what we as a flooring company can do to increase the efficiency of our operations and the performance of our products while decreasing our impact on our surroundings and our use of resources.
This belief grew from our determination to be the best people to do business with in our industry. It means looking beyond customer service and product innovation to legacy. And as a family-owned, fourth-generation company, we know a little about legacy. It's more than a good marketing story; it is values and vision beyond the next quarter's numbers.
In the linked pages we've set out the actions we have taken and what goals we are pursuing. We've posted our environmental values and our good neighbor policy. And as Mannington reaches new goals and undertakes new actions, we will update these pages, because while our actions speak, we know that it's important that they're heard.
