Below are the specifications for all the transitional moldings we offer:
Stair Nose:
Also called Bullnose, they add a professional finished look to steps and stairways. Stair noses are designed to catch the brunt of foot traffic abuse while maintaining the overall beauty of each step. They are made with a groove that fits perfectly into the tongue of the flooring. They are also available in overlap style for floating and laminate floors.
Hard Surface Reducer:
Hard surface reducers are usually used to make a smooth transition from the new floor to a lower floor such as vinyl or low-pile carpet. They also add protection against tripping. Hard surface reducers are made with a groove that fits perfectly into the tongue of the new floor. They are also available in overlap style for both floating and laminate floors.
T-Molding:
Also known as saddles, T-Moldings provide an attractive transitioning solution between floor surfaces in adjoining rooms. They are designed for use in doorways and borders where floors of approximately the same thickness meet.
Overlap Reducer:
Also known as threshold, T-Moldings are ideal for doorway applications and when transitioning between floors of different heights. Thresholds are appropriate for installation with hardwood flooring, tile or carpet surfaces.
Quarter Round:
Also known as shoe molding, Quarter round moldings are used to create a subtle blend between wall base and hardwood flooring. They can also be installed alone to create a transition between a hardwood floor and cabinetry. Quarter rounds are usually 3/4" X 3/4" while shoe moldings are 1/2" X 1/2".
Stair Treads:
Atair treads are mainly used on stairs, not landing; they are usually 1 ½" thick X 11" deep and come in various widths. Standard treads are suited for a boxed stair case that is enclosed by walls on both sides. Returns are available if the stair case has open sides. Except for Bamboo, all stair treads come unfinished and must be cut and finished on site.
Stair Risers:
Risers are the boards that form the vertical face of each step on stair cases. They create the "toe kick" area between the stair treads. Risers are usually available in 3/4" thickness X 7" deep. They are available in various widths. Except for Bamboo, risers come unfinished and must be stained on site.
Vernon Floors recommends that all treads and risers be installed by a professional technician. We offer installation in the states of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Please call us at 1-800-311-4640 for a free estimate.
